Software Freedom Day 2010
Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a worldwide celebration of Free Software. The goal in this celebration is to educate the worldwide public about of the benefits of using high quality Free Software in education, in government, at home, and in business -- in short, everywhere! The non-profit company Software Freedom International coordinates SFD at a global level, providing support, giveaways and a point of collaboration, but volunteer teams around the world organise the local SFD events to impact their own communities.
In the Netherlands, yearly events are organised since 2004. This year the Dutch Software Freedom Day 2010 will be hosted by CWI, Centrum voor Wiskunde en Informatica (the national research center for mathematics and computer science in the Netherlands), at Science Park in Amsterdam. Speakers from government, business and education will dive into the how-what-why around Free Software and related subjects.
