In 2009 the first edition of the Free Culture Forum was held in Barcelona. The event gathered around 200 representatives from grass roots and civil society organisations around the world to develop policy recommendations for the digital society.

The event’s main organiser was Simona Levi / eXgae, while FKI was its co-organiser.

See the 2009 programme and the Charter for Innovation, Creativity and Access to Knowledge. A specific Free Culture Forum Charter bringing in the depth of the Free Culture and Free Knowledge movements was developed by Kim Tucker and Wouter Tebbens, building on the inputs from the workshop participants.
