SELF International Conference 2008
The FKFT Conference 2008 was the first international event that focused on the production and sharing of free educational and training materials about Free Software. Its aims were to:
- present the SELF Platform, a community platform for the collaborative creation and sharing of free educational and training materials on Free Software and Open Standards;
- share best practices and success stories on Free Software from governmental, educational and corporate sectors; and
- discuss current trends and future projects.
With these purposes, the FKFT Conference 2008 has brought together representatives of governments, schools, universities, training organisations, IT companies, publishers as well as non-profit and public sector organisations from many different countries. It took place in Barcelona from the 15th to the 17th of July 2008.
Programme
The programme consisted of keynotes, hands-on workshops and train-the-trainer sessions around five main tracks on: Open Standards, the legal framework of free knowledge, specific learning materials, technology development and quality assesment.
Some of the keynote speakers included: Richard Stallman, Stephen Downes, Karel de Vriendt.
